Georgia Opioid Abatement Trust Update

Learn more about this exciting new opportunity for clubs across our district.

Rotarians,

We are excited to announce that we signed the contract with the Georgia Opioid Crisis Abatement Trust at the Georgia Rotary District Conference.  Commissioner Kevin Tanner signed the contract with us just prior to providing an update for conference attendees about this exciting Georgia Rotary initiative.  After his presentation all three districts were awarded the Big Check in the amount of $500,000 for Georgia Rotary.

We have been very pleased with the excitement our clubs are exhibiting about this new initiative.  Regarding next steps, our district opioid abatement project team, including co-chairs Derek Brooks and Bob Alman, participated in a program Q&A meeting this week with the Georgia Opioid Abatement Trust representatives. It was a very productive meeting giving our team a clear understanding of the expectations of both parties.

As we speak, our district opioid abatement team is in the process of creating our district opioid abatement program and processes.  In general, the current timeline includes finalizing the program and processes in June, including district-wide communications for club leadership. We currently anticipate seeking club applications for opioid abatement grants later in July.

Please stay tuned as we will attempt to over-communicate with club leadership on the messaging leading up to opening the grant application window.

Thank you,
DG Bobby
