Rotary Leaders Gather at Lake Oconee to Kick Off Rotary Foundation Month

The Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties, together with Rotary District 6910, had the honor of hosting Rotary International Past President Mark Maloney for a special luncheon celebrating the start of Rotary Foundation Month. Maloney attended as a guest of Past District Governor and International Service Chair Tina Fischlin, whose longstanding leadership and global service efforts continue to elevate the district’s impact.

Held at the beautiful Lake Oconee Church in Greensboro, Georgia, the event brought together Rotarians from across the state—including several Past District Governors from around District 6910—for a day of inspiration, fellowship, and renewed commitment to Rotary’s mission.

Past President Maloney shared timely updates on Rotary’s global fight against polio, offering insight into how Rotary International is strategically pivoting to accelerate progress toward eradication. His message underscored both the challenges and the remarkable advances made possible through decades of Rotary leadership, advocacy, and partnership.

Beyond polio, Maloney highlighted the diverse range of Rotary Foundation initiatives transforming communities around the world—from clean water and sanitation to peacebuilding, maternal and child health, literacy, and economic development.

A meaningful moment of recognition honored District Governor Jessica Fleetwood and her husband, Billy, who were celebrated for elevating their personal commitment to the Rotary Foundation. Their generosity and leadership serve as a powerful example of how individual giving fuels global good.

With energy, optimism, and a renewed sense of purpose, Rotarians left the luncheon ready to make Rotary Foundation Month a time of action, engagement, and meaningful contribution across Georgia and beyond.
