WOW what a start to our Feed10Million campaign and click on this video link to hear from District Governor Tina Fischlin announcing our goal for District 6910.
One of the key initiatives for Rotary this year is the Feed10Million Campaign for Zones 33 and 34. It’s an effort to provide 10 million meals to families in need across the over 1700 Rotary Clubs that make up basically the eastern seaboard of the United States. For District 6910 we have set a BIG GOAL of providing One Million Meals!! Why so big? Because our friends and neighbors in District 6910 need our help. Prior to the COVID crisis the number of people in our District who were considered food insecure (not sure where their next meal is coming from) was estimated to be 362,270. However, now with COVID the projection is 67% higher or 540,720, with more than 200,000 being children.
So how are we going to reach our One Million Meals goal? The good news is in the first 90 days of this Rotary year Clubs within District 6910 have already provided 205,526 meals. How amazing is that!! But we need to keep being “people of action” and here is what your Club can do.
- Farmers to Families – This is a USDA program that in response to COVID provides food truck deliveries for free through local charitable organizations like Rotary. Doug Bolton out of the Covington Club has been coordinating these deliveries across the District so if you club is interested in receiving one of these truckloads of free food contact Doug at email@example.com. This program ends October 31st so act fast!!
- Feed10Million Club Champion – We are asking each Club to identify a Feed10Million Champion. This Champion will help set the Club’s goal, create a plan and log progress along the way. Just have your Champion register by clicking on this link.
- Log your meal projects - Remember in Rotary it doesn’t count until the paperwork is done so click here to log your meals each time you complete a project.
